Hallo Benny! BP> precompiled systems is not what i like to see here Huh? None of what is running here is precompiled. It is all built from source on the target machine. BP> why did ipv6 not work for last 20 years then ? That I don't know. I have yet to use or need ipv6 so I never knew it wasn't working. BP> systemd is only optional That is a good thing. Everytime I've checked systemd it never works as good as sysvinit on a purely console based system. I can easily live without it. BP> still freezed on 2.26 here I've managed to get 2.27 working since the start of 2018. Given the issues with 2.28 it looks like I'll be frozen on 2.27 for awhile. BP> are this precompiled or just patches ? git source. It just needs to be bootstrapped with the latest gnulib and then compiled from there. I just discovered that I can get away with the latest stable m4 source bootstrapped to the latest gnulib but not so with either findutils and gzip. I haven't gotten far enough along to know what else might be broken using glibc-2.27.9000. So far I have only compiled; acl-2.2.53 attr-2.4.48 autoconf-2.69 automake-1.16.1 bash-4.4.23 bc-1.07.1 bin86-0.16.19 binutils-2.31 bison-3.0.5 bzip2-1.0.6 check-0.12.0 coreutils-8.30 diffutils-3.6 e2fsprogs-1.44.3 elfutils-0.173 eudev-3.2.5 expat-2.2.5 file-5.34 findutils-4.6.0.186-84e8 flex-2.6.4 gawk-4.2.1 gcc-8.2.0 gdbm-1.16 gettext-0.19.8.1 glibc-2.27.9000 gmp-6.1.2 gperf-3.1 grep-3.1 gzip-1.9.4-9ef6-dirty iana_etc-2.30 inetutils-1.9.4 intltool-0.51.0 iproute2-4.17.0 kbd-2.0.4 kernel-4.17.11 kernel_headers-4.17.11 kmod-25 less-530 libcap-2.25 libffi-3.2.1 libmnl-1.0.4 libnftnl-1.0.8 libnl-3.4.0 libtool-2.4.6 lilo-24.2 m4-1.4.18 make-4.2.1 mpc-1.1.0 mpfr-4.0.1 ncurses-6.1 nftables-0.8 openssl-1.1.0h patch-2.7.6 pcre-8.42 perl-5.28.0 pkg-config-lite-0.28-1 procps-ng-3.3.15 psmisc-23.1 python-2.7.15 readline-7.0.5 sed-4.5 shadow-4.6 sysklogd-1.5.1 sysvinit-2.90 tar-1.30 texinfo-6.5 tzdata2018e util-linux-2.32.1 vim-8.1 xml-parser-2.44 xz-5.2.4 zlib-1.2.11 I count 72 packages in the above list. My default rootfs, which is glibc-2.27 based, currently has 167 packages so I have a ways to go yet to catch up. I am in no rush and might decide to abandon the above for now.
