Hello Daryl, 12 May 19 09:36 at you wrote to me: DS> From what I hear through the grapevine, ARRL is really hurting for DS> funds and members right now. Other clubs and organizations memberships, DS> especially for a "Life Membership" are far cheaper than what ARRL DS> wants. ARRL life membership is cheaper than QRZ.com's or The American Legion's lifetime memberships. I became a lifetime member of the NRA but I was able to do that for $600 which was half-off. People don't realize what a good resource the ARRL is or how much they fight for ham radio. There's a lot of "craphouse lawyers" in the ham scene and they think they know everything about ham radio when all they are doing is hurting the hobby and definitely not helping. It's this attitude that is scaring off new hams and new hams joining the ARRL in general. The ARRL is our voice in the ITU and that affects everyone. I don't mind dropping $50 a year on the ARRL. Considering I have my shack and its entire contents insured via the ARRL, it's a very good deal for me. 73. Sean ... I despise the pleasure of pleasing people whom I despise. --- GoldED+/LNX 1.1.5-b20180707 * Origin: Outpost BBS * Limestone, TN, USA (1:18/200) |
