Jimmy, JA> DS> I multi-task...I read in the bathroom <G>. Or like the cartoon where JA> DS> the individual is on the toilet, and the caption says "Crap!! I forgot JA> DS> my smartphone!!" JA>LOL - yeah, I can relate :-) At some workplaces, that's the only time to make a phone call. I've been disabled for 15 years now, and unless I'm at a doctors appointment, in the ER, or in the hospital, my phone is on 24/7. JA>LOL - yeah, we didn't strip in front of each other, but quick shirt changes JA>and things like that back stage were common. But as long as it's professiona JA>I have no problems with it. Besides, you had a job to do as an actor or actress. And at our age, we know "what's under the hood" -- and being a widower 12 years now, I know "we're the same from the back side". <G> JA>Yeah, I can see that. Money has been tight for us too. Last couple of JA>years have seen some unusual medical issues that have taken more out JA>of pocket than normal... I go in for an ultrasound next week, to see if I'm pregnant ... ... ... with more kidney stones (I hope not)...along with an X-Ray. Then, I have to undergo another Low-T Implant in the backside 2 weeks later. The Low-T for men, can lead to a host of other problems. One woman told me "If women can pass a baby, men can pass a kidney stone". I replied to her "But, unlike the female cervix, the male penis can not dilate!!". With your wife being an EMT, I'm sure she'd agree with that. If it could, talk about "self Viagra". JA>Man that's awesome!!! But Huntsville was still not nearly as big as JA>walking through GenCon the two times I've been there. :-) If I could get into some good financial benefit this year, I'd like to take one final Amtrak trip to the Duke City Hamfest in Albuquerque in September. But, if I can't do that, the 2020 National Square Dance Convention will be in Spokane, Washington, and that'd be a really nice trip. Of course, I'd do Sleeping Car most of the way...the 2 exceptions would be on the Missouri River Runner between Saint Louis and Kansas City...and on the Lincoln Service between Chicago and Saint Louis. I'd rather spend the night in Saint Louis on the way back, than in Chicago. By going to Spokane, I'd likely square dance Thursday and Friday, and just spend Saturday with the local hams. I've "planned and dreamed" both trips, but wiithout the funds to pay for the tickets, both are "out of the question". However, one can't book a train trip until 11 months in advance of departure. So, if it ends up being the Spokane trip, it'd be late July before I could book it. Either way, I'd like to work Amtrak D-Star Railroad Mobile from the train. But, with all the stress I've gone through in the last year, with having to get my Mom into a nursing home, cashing in all the stocks, life insurance deals, etc., I've been on the verge of a nervous breakdown...and I feel that I DESERVE A NICE TRIP AS COMPENSATION. My brother wanted NOTHING to do with the financial crap...he can barely balance his own checkbook...but he wants his money. He always lived for himself, and in the present...so I'll have to pay for his funeral after he dies, as he didn't pre-arrange...like myself, my Mom, and my late father, did. JA>Hmm... So we could theroetically ride from Newbern (we have an Amtrack JA>station just 20 or 25 minutes from here) to Chicago, then change to a JA>train to Indy? Correct. As noted, The Hoosier State will be terminated on July 1 (the state of Indiana is refusing to subsidize that corridor train), but The Cardinal will still serve the route between Chicago and Indianapolis (and on to Washington, DC) 3 days a week in each direction. Contact Amtrak at 1-800-872-7245 (1-800-USA-RAIL) or go to www.amtrak.com for details. While coach is cheaper, you don't have your privacy that you do in a sleeping car. Plus, except for the Silver Star Route, your meals in the Dining Car (excluding appetizers and alcoholic beverages) are included in the price of your ticket.
