my terminals are 197x62...
my graphic resolution is 1600x1200...
i use KDE and Konsole is the terminal of choice...

i've never tried to run my stuff from the raw terminal... i should be able to
ALT-F1 to tty1 and use my existing command line, though...

the only crashes i see here are related to nodelist lookups and that may be
similar to your bitness problem elsewhere... my golded is definitely built
64bit...
