Caveats:

I don't know why it works.
I don't know what it does (very much).
I make no guarantees that it will work.

I recommend that you backup your current GoldEd configuration file first! 
Also, read through the list of referenced .CHS files that should be in your own
 "xlatpath", and remark-out those entries for files that are _not_ there.
