Steven Leeman of 2:292/624 will cover 400 kilometers on inline skates between London and Brussels next week. In six stages of 60 to 90 kilometers a day he also pushes a wheelchair user, even if this happens in an exchange system with other volunteers. Steven has been passionate about inline skating since 2011. This translates into participations in (inter)national tours, but also in the running of the Izegems-Roeselaar iSkate club. "In this way I came into contact with the Brussels Rouli Roula skate club, which plans a trip with wheelchair users and skaters for the fourth time this week with an English and French club. The purpose of this mission is to promote accessibility in the area of mobility, including wider sidewalks and the correct positioning of poles. Steven has been used to skating 80 to 100 kilometers on skates, but this is going to be something special. "Each team consists of one person in a wheelchair and three to four roller pushers who work together and drive in "a train ". Each skater pushes along in the back of his predecessor. We regularly meet each other. To warm up, Saturday first I will do Rhine on Skates, a Unesco tour of 135 kilometers. On Sunday we will head for London for the launch Monday morning. "Next Wednesday evening there is the ferry crossing to Dunkirk. On Thursday, the team skates from Dunkirk to Bruges, on Friday to Ghent and on Saturday to Brussels. You can follow the team via the Fleggz app or on www.london-brussels.org. Therefor, if his Fidonet-node crashes, do not call him, he's under way with no wifi. --- D'Bridge 3.99 SR33 * Origin: A man's most proud moment is when he takes a shit (2:292/854) |
