Hello Henri, On Sunday April 01 2018 13:16, you wrote to me: MvdV>> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_day HD> I see, but I did not know that. It is an astronomer's thing. Seldom used outside that field. HD> I only knew about the Julian calendar and the Gregorian calandar as HD> used sincs 1582. FidoNet was not alive during the Julian period. Indeed. MvdV>> We are now at Julain date 2458209.076389 HD> I did never see that big figures in FidoNet NodeLists. And you won't because Fidonet does not use the Julian date (or day). HD> Only the figures 001 until and inclusive 366 are used as a day number. Calling them "Julian Date" or "Julian Day" is a misnomer. I don't know who introduced that term into Fidonet, but it is obvious that he or she was not an astronomer... What is used in Fidonet is simply the day of the year. Just like we have the day of the week, numbered 1-7 and we have the day of the month numbered from 1-31, we have the day of the year numbered from 1-366. HD> The 366 only appears in leap years when 31st of december is a friday. That happens once in 28 years. Last time it happened, I wrote a Fidonews article about it.
