I use offline mail in preference to pointing, because I frequently switch devices - over the past few days, I've read BBS mail on this PC, a Windows netbook, and an Android phone running Telix and Bluewave under DOSBox. Had I used points, I would have had a real major issue with keeping track of last read pointers, but using offline mail, the BBS looks after that, and I can freely switch devices as needed, providing I remember to upload replies from each device. So, why to I switch devices so frequently? Simply, because I use the one that's most efficient for the time. Points don't give me the same flexibility. I would have to choose a device to run a point on, then take that with me. Fine for the 1990s (when I only read mail at home) and 2000s (when I carried a laptop everywhere I went), but today, there's too many devices and each fits a different niche. ... Hard work has a future payoff. Laziness pays off now. === MultiMail/Win32 v0.49 --- SBBSecho 3.03-Linux * Origin: Freeway BBS Bendigo,Australia freeway.apana.org.au (3:633/410) |
