Because it entered [4] the shadow of the Earth [5] . That's what happened Sunday night [6] as the Moon underwent a total lunar eclipse [7] . Dubbed by some as a Super [8] (because the Moon was angularly larger than usual, at least slightly) Blood [9] (because the scattering of sunlight through the Earth's atmosphere makes an eclipsed Moon appeared unusually red) Wolf [10] (because January full moons are sometimes called Wolf Moons from the legend [11] that wolves like to howl at the moon) Moon Eclipse, the shadowy spectacle [12] was visible from the half of the Earth [13] then facing the Moon [14] , and was captured in numerous spectacular photographs [15] . Featured, a notable image sequence was captured over the Cologne Cathedral [16] , a UNESCO World Heritage Site [17] , in Cologne [18] , Germany [19] . The lunar eclipse [20] sequence was composed from [21] 68 different exposures captured over three hours during freezing temperatures -- and later digitally combined and edited to remove a cyclist and a pedestrian. The next total lunar eclipse will occur [22] in 2021.
