Hi, mark lewis!
I read your message from 14.10.2013 11:31

ak>> Probably the rule is, that if we speak of a particular

ml> we don't call him President when we are addressing him

ml> incorrect: President, would you please pass the salt?
ml> correct: Mr. President, would you please pass the salt?
ml> correct: President Lincoln, would you please pass the salt?

Well, is it correct if you ask, "Where is President?", or "I heard that
President is on vacation."

Can a girl say, "My father is President of the United Corporation" or
she should say "My father is the president of the United Corporation"?

ak>>> IMHO there is no logic, but, IMHO, the first capital
ak>>> letter in President/Emperor implies uniqueness and
  ak>>> "the" becomes unnecessary.
  ml>
ml> it is an honorific or title when it is capitalized... there are
ml> numerous presidents or the USA still living today and they are
ml> all addressed as above in many cases...

We talked about using "the" before President.

Bye, mark!
