Because metric is a word that in my mind is so closely related to the
length in meters, kilometers and so on, I hesitate to use it to differ

My UPS is constantly on, supplying power and protection to my computer,
but the monitor isn't connected to the UPS. This conserves the available
power capacity needed in a long power outage.

If the UPS starts telling me that it is about to be exhausted, I have a
handwritten note above the monitor, showing the keystrokes needed to get
an orderly close down of the machine.

That isn't really necessary, since the machine starts up in an ordely
way, with only an extra CHKDSK before it awakens, after a close-down.

Please don't use words/names that you don't know the meaning of.

The nuvistors are/were low-power triodes, used in UHF amplifiers (6CW4),
and UHF oscillators (6DV4) up to 1000 MHz.
