In a message on Saturday 12-16-15 Daryl Stout said to Holger Granholm: Hi Daryl, DS> It's funny that while there is metrics with the ham radio license DS> exams, and most of the rest of the world uses metrics (including in DS> meteorology, with things like millibars and degrees celsius), the DS> U.S. refuses to give up using imperial measurements. The move towards the metric system in USA has already began, with the children at school learning it, and young people having recently left school, or are studying at universitys and high schools, are using it in their daily life. It's the older generation that refuse to learn and use it, that are the block on the road. My generation of people on this side of "the pond", don't know much about inches, feet or miles because they don't have any use of that knowledge. Regarding myself, having been interested in ham radio in the early teens, and having access only to american litterature/magazines, in the matter, understanding that ancient system of measures, was necessary. DS> * OLX 1.53 * We should back the Metric System every inch of the DS> way. Yes, I have that too. 73 de Sam OH0NC es mri xmas 2 u aka Holger ___ * MR/2 2.30 * looking at a pair of nipples never hurt anybody. #FreeTheNipple --- PCBoard (R) v15.22 (OS/2) 2 * Origin: Coming to you from the Sunny Aland Islands.
