In a message on Saturday 04-19-17 Ed Vance said to Holger Granholm: Hi Ed, EV> I got a copy of CCleaner back in 2010. That may have been about the time I too got CCleaner for my Lenovo/XP laptop. HG> You'll have to RTFM, or at least check the help for various items. EV> It was a MS Program that deleted some files without alerting me it EV> would do it on it's own. Usually, even M$ programs do tell what they are going to do. You'll only have to use (and understand) the information presented. EV> I don't like it when unexpected things occur. No-one does! BTW, late last night I saw that I had a message from you in the Win10 machine. I'll reply to it today. EV> The Acer Vista box has a Hidden Partition, but haven't seen it on EV> this XP MCE 2005 SP3 box (yet). Partitition programs do show all partitions. Easeus Partition Manager is one that I have installed on my Win10 machines. It's free too. EV> The two backup programs I have used on this XP and the Vista EV> computers has shown the Hidden Partition on the Acer box but never They usually do. EV> has shown a Hidden Partition on this XP box. The reason is simple. On modern machines (even some XP's) the partition harbours the installation program. In the XP-era Windows was delivered on a CD. If needed, you can reinstall Windows either way. Please note that the "hidden" partition is NOT a backup partition. When upgrading a Win7 machine to Windows 10, you do get sort of a backup partition that contains the previous (ie 7) operating system. You can reinstall the old operating system within 30 days, using that backup. HG> For Windows I'll check if Irfanview fills my bill. EV> Remember to also download the Plug-In Package for the version You EV> will use in case one or some of them may be needed later on. Thanks for the advice. EV> When does the freezing WX end for the Aland Islands? It has ended now, except that we may still get frost at night time if the sky is clear. EV> My guess is You still have that "dirty old white stuff" on the EV> ground until maybe next month, is that correct? Wrong! Although we had a shower of that stuff one evening about a week ago, but in the morning it had melted away. Since march 22nd I have walked (with crutches so far), every day, except the few rainy days. I couldn't do it with snow on the ground, because cruthes too can slip. 73 de Sam, OH0NC aka Holger ..
