In a message on Saturday 04-17-17 Jean Parrot said to Holger Granholm: GE Jean, HG> I have in vain tried to find the setting for metered connection in HG> the stationary machine, but nil. HG> On the laptop I have stumbled over it, and set it to NO (metered). JP> Go into the Systems window -> Network -> Status -> Change Connection JP> Properties -> Metered Connections to OFF. JP> Kid's stuff. Enjoy. Jean. Yeah, if it were that simple. Of course the start is Settings -> System Checking all items under System didn't reveal any Network. So back out and choose Network from the main Settings window to show that LAN cable not connected, WiFi disabled, and WiFi2 enabled. Status shows the ASUS N-13 Network Adapter USB dongle, used to receive the wireless signals, like the built-in antennas in a laptop do. Not before switching on the soap-like router, I call it router because it does the same job, can I do something useful. By clicking on the network icon on the task bar and the clicking on the name of the "router" do I see Properties -- and now I can see the ON/OFF setting for metered connection. I did of course set it to NO. Now it only remains for me to find out how I can use WiFi from the laptop. In the City there are big advertisements for Free WiFi via "citymariehamn.ax", but to reach that URL, I must first connect to my ISP provider, and then it isn't free anymore, since I must carry that "router" with me to make it possible. OK, next step is to take the laptop in the car, and drive to the ferry terminal, that also tells they have Free WiFi, to find out how it works. 73 es GN, Holger ..
