04 Dec 15 18:58, you wrote to me:

MH> You can always run OS/2 or eCS in a VM.

wow, that's an "old" message of mine... if my searching is correct, 2015 Aug
6...

as i noted, there's something in the boot process that the VMs don't like or
cannot do... i have a neuron trying to kick me to get my attention for
something about this... it seems to keep pointing to the problem being during
the installation but if you can get it installed, then it should be ok after
that...

MH> From my experience, the only thing that won't work is the HPFS.

i doubt that changing from HPFS is gonna happen over here...

MH> You need to use either FAT (gasp)

i gave up FAT a long time ago because some of the server stuff required LFNs...

MH> or JFS. JFS is in the new eCS builds and works perfectly in a VM.

i've never messed with JFS... not on OS/2 or linux... i've heard mixed reviews
and decided to stick with what i knew worked...

the biggest problem i haven't researched much of is how to take four physical
partitions and transfer them to a VM so that they work just like they did on
the physical hardware... i'm using QEMU-KVM (i think) for my VM solution... if
you have thoughts on this, we probably should take it elsewhere... netmail
works if you don't have problems routing it or don't mind dropping it off at my
main system which will then deliver it to this point system (routeto 1:3634/12

"So let me ask you a question about this brave new world of yours. When you've
killed all the bad guys, and when it's all perfect, and just and fair, and when
you have finally got it exactly the way you want it, what are you going to do
with the people like you? The trouble makers. How are you going to protect your
glorious revolution from the next one?"
