An upper ridge will likely prevail over the Four Corners region through the upcoming weekend. Weak mid-level disturbances may rotate around the apex of the upper ridge and impinge on a moist low-level airmass across the Plains from Day 4/Friday through at least Day 6/Sunday. Although some severe potential may exist each day in association with these subtle features, predictability remains too low to highlight any areas of greater severe potential across the Plains. By late this weekend into early next week, medium-range guidance generally suggests that the upper ridge will flatten as a more pronounced shortwave trough advances eastward across Canada and the northern tier of the CONUS. Strengthening mid-level winds associated with this upper trough overlapping sufficient buoyancy may support at least some severe thunderstorm potential across parts of the northern Plains into the Upper Midwest from Day 6/Sunday into Day 7/Monday. However, there are still significant timing/amplitude differences regarding the upper trough at this extended time frame. Therefore, predictability appears too low to include 15% severe delineations at this time. ..Gleason.. 07/30/2019 ------------=_1564475632-118394-2062 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7BIT = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
