Isolated severe wind and hail storms are possible from the central/northern High Plains to Michigan, mainly during the late afternoon and evening. ...Central/northern Great Plains... A minor mid-level impulse evident over the eastern Great Basin should reach western SD by evening, kicked east by a shortwave trough amplifying across the Canadian Rockies. Mid-level flow associated with the lead impulse will be rather weak with 500-mb winds averaging 10-15 kt at peak heating. Modest low-level upslope flow will aid in scattered thunderstorms forming off the higher terrain from CO into far southern MT by mid afternoon. This activity should largely drift east towards a corridor of moderate buoyancy (MLCAPE of 1500-2000 J/kg) centered on the MT/WY/SD border area southeast into north-central NE. Veering of the wind profile with height and moderate upper-level winds might support some loosely organized clustering towards early evening. The relative best chance for this to occur appears centered on southwest SD into northwest NE. Isolated severe wind and hail are the most likely hazards. ...Mid-MO Valley to MI... A narrow corridor of moderate buoyancy should develop just ahead of a front that should decelerate across MI/WI and become quasi-stationary to the west across northern IA into northeast NE. Sufficient convergence along the front should exist for isolated to scattered late afternoon to early evening thunderstorms. Modest deep-layer shear should support locally damaging winds and marginally severe hail prior to activity weakening by late evening. ..Grams/Mosier.. 07/27/2019 $$ ------------=_1564231406-118394-1150 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7BIT = = = To unsubscribe from WX-STORM and you already have a login, go to https://lists.illinois.edu and use the "Unsubscribe" link.
