The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 523
continues.

SUMMARY...Strong to occasionally severe storms will continue through
the evening. No downstream watch is expected.

DISCUSSION...A east to west oriented line of single cell and
multicell storms has produced occasional damaging winds this
afternoon in southern New York and northern Pennsylvania in an
environment with around 2000 to 3000 J/kg of MLCAPE and effective
shear around 20 knots. These instances of damaging winds have been
associated with several storm collapses. This threat is expected to
continue for a few more hours, but recent radar trends suggest the
greatest threat was likely this afternoon and additional damaging
winds should be more isolated. Therefore, no downstream watch is
expected.
