Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> mostly... out in the sun it was pretty bad, though... I heard
NB> NB>> that Rochester and Syracuse both had heat indexes of 110 on
NB> NB>> Saturday... I was thankful for that my car's A/C was working
NB> NB>> well for my trip home.... :)

RH> We finally cooled off to the 70s (with a front/storm) on Tuesday. Back
RH> to the mid 80s now but not quite as humid.

NB> We've been having more typical summer weather, with highs in high 70s
NB> to low 80s and temps dropping into the 60s or so at night... with the
NB> forecast for mostly more of the same... not really enough rain,
 NB> though...

We've been in the mid to upperr 80s the last week or so, some days with
rain, others, not. Had to wait inside the Convention Center in Raleigh
today for a storm to get (partly) gone so we could make a mad (wet) dash
to the parking garage. Made it, without getting too wet.

NB> RH>>> Peach ice cream is popular this time of year. (G)
 NB> NB>>> Have you been indulging....? ;)
NB> RH>> Not in peach specifically, but ice cream in general, yes.
NB> NB>> Tis the right season for that, too... I noticed in Wegmans
NB> NB>> when we went shopping Saturday afternoon that they've got the
NB> NB>> peach loaves on sale... was tempted, but this week we're
NB> NB>> hardly eating home at all, so it would just have gone bad on
NB> NB>> me... maybe this week I'll grab one... :)

RH> Sounds good to me. We're a couple of months from the Raleigh Wegman's
 RH> opening up.

NB> That you are... I did grab a loaf last week, as there weren't quite
NB> so many on display, and it looked like that might be the end of
NB> them... the date was far enough out that it has lasted the week...
 NB> just one slice
NB> left now, and that'll probably be eaten tomorrow... ;)

Sounds good--is it a quick bread sort of thing or not? Might be worth
trying to replicate. The other day I made a blueberry skillet pound
cake, similar to the strawberry one I made at Shipp's in 2017. This one
is just as good as the strawberry version, may try it with peaches next.

NB> RH>>>>> Found a place that has 30 flavors of Hershey's ice cream the
 NB> RH>>>>> other night. (G)
NB> NB>>>>> On the road, or locally....?
NB> RH>>>> Locally. Place specialises in mac & cheese, other American
NB> RH>>>> cheese dishes but also has the Hershey's ice cream.
NB> NB>>>> Ah. Nice place to keep in mind for the ice cream, anyway...
 NB> ;) RH>>> Yes, and Hershey's is a good brand.
 NB> NB>>> Indeed. :)
NB> RH>> Haven't been able to get back to them as they close at 8 on
NB> RH>> Wednesday nights; we're usually at church until just after 8.
 NB> NB>> So the timing just doesn't mesh... :)

RH> We made it there at about 7:59 the other night. (G)

NB> Squeaked in just under the wire... did they serve you...? ;)

Yes, they did and gave Steve a military discount. Started talking with
the other ice cream place about a ginger one in Sept.; they had one in
the case the other night when we took Rachel in. No pints of it in the
freezer tho.

once a week for a year and you might cover it? Or, twice a NB> RH>>
week and cover that many plus additional new items cooked up NB>
RH>> in that time...... NB> NB>> At least he doesn't innovate QUITE
   that quickly... (G) He's NB> NB>> been open now for 5 years...
he's talking about updating his NB> NB>> printed menus...

RH> Adding some of the things that had been off the menu before, available
RH> only if you knew what to ask for?

NB> Possibly... :) He's talking about deleting some things that no one
NB> ever asks for... although I'm not sure that there are all that many of
 NB> those... ;)

We'll have to check it out next time we're in Rochester, not sure when
that will be. As of now, it could be this fall or next year some time.

Catch you later,
Ruth
