-=> Quoting Ruth Haffly to Nancy Backus on 07-15-19 12:34 <=- RH>>> He's too young to be that old! (G) NB>>> Or you're too young for him to be that old! RH>> That's more like it. NB>> I know the feeling well... (G) RH> I think most all of us on the ehco are of the same feeling. At least those of us that aren't youngsters anymore... RH>>> turned 7 in March--we've been here since before any of them were RH>>> born. NB>>> How time does fly... RH>> Quite so. Another family had #2 (#1 was born before they moved RH>> here) just a few days after Audrey was born. He turned 8 in RH>> April, just a few weeks after becoming a big brother to #6. NB>> Reminds one of the song from Fiddler... Sunrise, Sunset... RH> One of my favorites. I saw the movie for the first time (but not the RH> last) while in college. I've seen it a few times also... and listened to the soundtrack recording many more times... RH>>> We made a sweet cherry pie today, a small gingered rhubarb (jam) RH>>> one with the bit of leftover crust. NB>>> Now that sounds quite tasty... RH>> They both were, and both gone now so I'll be making another pie RH>> tomorrow. This time it will be with local (We know the grower.) RH>> blueberries. Got some more cherries but I think Steve is going to RH>> try drying them. NB>> A worthy experiment... has he done that before with the NB>> cherries...? RH> No, but we've got the resources to tell him how to do it and they RH> dried nicely. I could (almost) eat them like candy. Probably just a little bit healthier for you than candy, at least... NB>>>> Juggling priorities... RH>>> Yes, and this week has quite the week for that with VBS in the RH>>> evening. Yesterday I had a morning therapy session, quilting RH>>> in the afternoon, and then VBS in the evening. NB>>> That IS busy.... RH>> This week is much quieter. Had therapy yesterday, then a Costco RH>> run. Worked on VT VBS today with my crafts helper, getting it set RH>> to go up there next week NB>> Still somewhat busy... What there is of this week at home is NB>> perforce rather busy for me... I didn't get home from the Pond NB>> until Wednesday late afternoon, and so lost a day for getting NB>> ready for going off on the Elder family camping week which starts NB>> Saturday.... RH> So you should be at camp when this comes in; my Fido was out of RH> commission for a few days, probably because of Barry. Hopefully you're RH> having fun, eating lots of goodies and catching up with everybody. I was indeed at the family camping... this set of messages was in the huge packet I downloaded when I got home... We did have fun, catching up with each other... not really so many goodies this year... fewer people showed up this year than in other years, and of those, a fairly significant percentage only came on a day trip, or to drop off their kids to be there (under grandparent supervision)... NB>> Got a week's worth of Fido etc messages read yesterday, starting NB>> in on replies now... what doesn't get done goes with me to work NB>> on there... RH> I only had 3 days of back mail, plus today, so not that bad to catch RH> up on. I took about half of it with me, and, as you saw, I uploaded those when I got back from Selkirk Shores.... Now, I'm tackling that week's message packet.... At least I'm not planning any more trips for a few weeks... RH> We cooked for LG yesterday, ended up only being 2 others besides Steve RH> and me. Did a taco salad with blueberry cobbler (local berries) for RH> dessert. Cobbler was enhanced by vanilla ice cream--yummy! Had you known ahead of time how few people there were to be there...? Sounds like a fairly simple and easy meal... Did you have lots of leftovers....? ttyl neb ... "I love pancakes," said Tom flippantly. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.20 --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5 * Origin: Fido Since 1991 | QWK by Web | BBS.FIDOSYSOP.ORG (1:123/140) |
