-0400 (74.101.171.114) 2017 00:32:39 -0400 str=0001.0A020203.5987ED5C.009F,ss=1,re=0.000,recu=0.000,reip=0.000,cl=1,cld=1, fgs=0 ++ From the VOICE OS/2-eCS News Service http://www.os2voice.org ++ From: peterDESPAM@DESPAMpmoylan.org This is to announce a simultaneous release of new versions of Weasel and INIServe (both are freeware and open source). They can be fetched from ftp://ftp.pmoylan.org/software/iniser2.8.zip ftp://ftp.pmoylan.org/Weasel/weasel_2.4.zip or from Hobbes incoming, or from http://www.pmoylan.org. Weasel is a mail server, and INIServe enables remote configuration of Weasel. (Plus remote configuration of anything else that uses INI or TNI files for its configuration options.) Weasel version 2.39 introduced a new way of deciding whether to use an INI or TNI file. Basically, the rule was to use whichever file existed, with tie-breaker rules for the case where both existed. This new release ensures that the same rules apply when using remote configuration. For that to work, however, INIServe version 2.8 is a prerequisite. The small but significant change to INIServe adds a "file does not exist" error response. Remote configuration means that you can run your mail server (or FTP server, or a few other possibilities) on one machine, but control it from a different machine. This is to handle the common case where the server machine does not have a keyboard or monitor. -- Peter Moylan mailto://peter@pmoylan.org http://www.pmoylan.org A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
