Do you have any specific questions? Personally I'm still a little confused about how .msg and .asc are supposed to be different. It sounds like they both can contain ASCII and CP437 characters, and I know they both can contain Synchronet color/attribute codes that will be displayed only if the user has a compatible (ANSI) terminal.
