Thanks for the confirmation. >> Press E on the main menu to enter the Electronic Mail Menu and then >> choosing R or U will only show me the message " You have no mail " DM> Then perhaps you already downloaded and deleted the email, perhps using DM> POP3 or QWK? At this point, I have not. I have not used POP3, and did not use QWK to download. Hmmm... what about the pre-pack QWK thing? Could that be triggering this behavior? >> If I download a QWK packet, these emails will appear and I can read >> and reply to them. The area shown in the QWK reader as area # 0, and >> the forum name is "E-mail" DM> That's the same message area you access with the 'R' command from the DM> Email menu. You can also use the ;MAIL sysop command to read *all* email DM> on the system or use the smbutil from the command-line. >> Any ideas where I can look to figure out why the system is unable to >> show me emails unless I donwload a QWK packet? DM> It might be helpful if you set SCFG->Message Options->Users Can View DM> Deleted Messages to "Yes" or "Sysops Only". My guess is that the messages DM> has been marked for deletion and you can't see it because that option is DM> set to "No". Why was it marked for deletion? Probably because you DM> downloaded it via QWK or POP3 - but that's just a guess. I do have SCFG->Message Options->Users Can View Deleted Messages set to Sysops Only. I'm jumping back to my previous thought regarding SCFG->Message Options->Pre-pack QWK Requirements, I have this set to LEVEL 50, so I am wondering if the system has pre-packed the QWK and marked the emails for deletion... but then the other configuration should still let me see those emails, yes? ;MAIL also shows no emails, though I have no unread at this time that I know of, but was thinking it should still show those. What _is_ the sysop - just the account with user # 1 and access 99? Maybe I don't have my 'sysop' account correct, so while I have sysop access with security level, the code doesn't really think I am the sysop ? thanks, JH ...
