derp.  No clue how that one was turned off. That was it, though.

So, an area is turned off in the scan config, it will scan and display
subject lines when I choose to display subject only, but if I chose to not
display subjects only ( hence the entire message would display ) then it would
not scan the area at all?  (As shown in my previous email)
