Maybe for some things.  I don't think "running a BBS" falls into 
that "trend" though.

Oh, just thought of something else - many BBS's today run on a 
Raspberry Pi.  Doesn't get much smaller than that.  You can buy 
one for roughly $40.  Git-R-Done.
