In San Francisco back in the 90s, people started moving into Live-Work
lofts in the SOMA neighborhood. While they were intended for mixed-use,
lots of people moved into them intending to use them primarily as
residences.
WHat came next was predictable - people complaining about the noise near
their homes at night. The clubs didn't get much reprieve, and no one
criticized the people for moving into a commercially-zoned neighborhood and
expecting a suburban environment.
