Hello Mike,

 MP> Yeah, real e$tate developer$ $ee dollar$ and don't really care what
happen$
MP> once they have $old all of the lot$.

MP> Of course, being right off the end of a runway would be something the
MP> person who bought a home there should have also thought about.

Years ago a passenger airplane took off at Moisant Field in
New Orleans, crashing in a neighborhood in Kenner, right across
the highway from the airport. There were no survivors. The
planes would take off in a direct path towards Kenner, and on
this particular morning it was terribly bad weather. Well,
we all know what happens in a very bad thunderstorm ...

My next door neighbor's daughter was on that flight. She
and her husband were looking forward to spending quality time
in Las Vegas. Talk about a short trip.

My neighbor was never the same after that. Lost his will
to live. Came as a shock to nobody when he passed away later
that same year.

The powers that be decided to shut down that runway after
that airplane crash. Since then, all airplanes take off in
the other direction.

Moisant Field (LAX) is shutting down in a few weeks, as a
new airport has been built and is ready to open. Hopefully,
the powers that be remember the crash that happened in Kenner
and have aligned the runways so that airplanes take off over
Lake Pontchartrain rather than flying into neighboroods.
