BA> Apparently these caravans of "refugees" are being organized by leftist BA> US citizens who are going down to Central America and convincing people BA> they need to move here. Those US citizens are also apparently paying BA> for buses to move those people to the US border; the last group arrived BA> at the US border a couple of weeks ago in a convoy of about fifty BA> chartered buses - those penniless, destitute "refugees" didn't pay for BA> that I was thinking about the logistics of it all and the speed by which they were moving ... people need to be fed, they need to sleep, poop, pee, drink, health care ... It didn't happen just out of the blue, which I guess is what you are saying. On the other hand, and this is kicking-in an open door, the USA (and Canada) is a nation mostly founded on immigration ... I always wonder how bad it must be for people to leave their home turf well knowing they will never return... Today New York is just 8 hours away across the Atlantic, but that has been different. It was like a mountain range you only crossed once. An uncle of mine emigrated by freighter vessel in 1959, with his wife and son. In 1972 on passing-through I visited him in Detroit, in 1974 my dad saw him there too. My uncle never ventured back for a visit to his family, sisters, parents. I vividly remember our deceased colleague-sysop Joe Delahaye who emigrated with his familiy to Canada and came back with his aging mother a couple of times to visit her family. Once he told me "This is going to be her last time but she doesn't know it" ... I'm a family person and things like that just tear me up ... \%/@rd --- D'Bridge 3.99 SR41 * Origin: Ceci n'est pas un courriel (2:292/854) |
