MP> We tried applying that logic here to folks who entered Mexico illegally MP> and MP> then continued Northward after Mexico offered them asylum. IMHO, that MP> should have negated any chance of them getting asylum here but, so far, I MP> don't think it has been decided. That is exactly what is being tried here ... with just a moderate success-rate. Also the North-American immigration situation is totally different. People in Europe need to realize at certain locations here there is a wall too. Countries like Hungaria, Romania, Bulgaria physically sealing-off their eastern border (which is the outside border of the EU). Another problem is that certain countries are bothered more by the asylum-seekers than others. Greece, Italy and Spain for example. The deal is that it is considered a common problem and will be dealt with that way meaning that the ones who aren't bothered share in the burder and the cost anyway. Overland migration from Turkey to Greece seems now well contained and Italy has also said it is done with the numbers it already took. Spain is getting there as well but they're still bothered by the narrows near Gibraltar which can be negotiated on a good day. \%/@rd --- D'Bridge 3.99 SR41 * Origin: Ceci n'est pas un courriel (2:292/854) |
