Who says people would quit working if there is no money?
We are moving towards a cashless society.  Not just the US
and Europe, but the entire world.

We pay prisoners who make license plates or whatever.
What do we give them for their work?  Not money, although
that is how it is counted.  The monetary pay is trivial,
nothing more than a few cents a day.  It is other things
the prisoners want, and strive for.  Such as more time
in the yard for play, more cigarettes to smoke or trade
with others, etc.

Islanders in Yap use giant stones for money.  The bigger
the stone, the more money they have to spend.  The stones
come from another island, far away.  The shape of the
stones are round, like a wheel.  Or rather, carved into
the shape of a wheel.  Then transported by canoe to
their own island.

Star Trek uses no money.  Except for Ferengi, that lovable
species with giant ears.  The concept of no money needed or
wanted by advanced societies is part of Star Trek philosophy.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) will continue taking jobs
away from people.  That means, at some point, the majority
of people will have nothing to do with their own time but
leisure.  That point in time is getting nearer and nearer.
Perhaps within our own lifetimes.
