Hello Greg, MP>> Chances are the folks paying the most for the free stuff are MP>> the ones who are working hard, paying their taxes, and trying not to MP>> become poor. GD> The left gripe about the rich, then ask for money from the same people, GD> Bernie raised 6 million dollars in 24 hours. Hypocrite. At an average donation of $27 per person, that is a *lot* of donors! And that was just on his first day! GD> I do not see why people would support someone who believes in socialism. Everybody wants a free lunch. Don't you? GD> Socialism worked in Germany at one time, It also worked in Minden, Louisiana at one time. A group of German immigrants had settled there, and developed an economic system that worked very well for them for many years. GD> but it is odd to think it would work here in the United States. Huey P. Long's "share the wealth" program was just an idea, not an actual program, as he was assassinated before he had the chance to get himself elected President of the United States. Norman Thomas was a perrenial candidate for president who advocated many socialist ideas that were adopted by both major political parties. FDR adopted many of them into his New Deal program, which remain a fabric of American society today. FDR gave Americans social security. LBJ gave Americans medicare and medicaid. GWB gave Americans subsidized prescription drugs. The state of Louisiana has a free college tuition program known as TOPS. The state of Georgia has a similar program. The state of Louisiana used to have a charity hospital system, that allowed both rich and poor to receive quality healthcare for free. This program worked well for decades, until Louisiana governor "Bobby" Piyush Jindal gutted it but depriving it of needed funds. Whether on a national or state level, Americans love socialism. So why not make everything free? Yes, Americans love socialism. Especially their own brand of socialism, all of it made in the USA. Isn't that neat? No need to move to Europe, Canada, Australia, or anywhere else. We can get everything we want at Alice's Restaurant. Right here in the US of A. GD> It's almost alien to me. Only those who fail to recognize it find it alien. MP>>> NY. (As they are vastly different from one another) However, it would no MP>>> bother me if they were removed from NY to be granted statehood. GD> After this post was made by me I heard about a local Republican politician GD> Daphne Jordan, talking about this very issue. See there? Even Republicans want something for nothing. MP>> I would be upset if our Gov made a statement that made me feel unwelcome If somebody offered you free money, wouldn't you take it? Especially if it is your own money? Okay, better if it is somebody else's money, but still ... GD> I believe in action, if you don't like something don't complain about it, GD> change it. Actions do speak louder then words. Taking somebody else's money is stealing. That is why paying income taxes are voluntary. The more you give, the more you get back. See how that works? Problem is, Democrats were suckered. Guess who paid the most and received the least? Blue states. It was those in Red states who understood the game, paying the least and receiving the most. See how smart those Republicans are? They've gamed the system. Not only do they pay the least and receive the most, but they also rigged the presidential election so the winneer is the one who received the fewest votes. Hillary Clinton should change her party affiliation and challenge Donald Trump for the Republican nomination. That way, Bernie Sanders will finally have his chance to win. --Lee -- I Take A Sheet In The Pool --- MesNews/1.08.05.00-gb * Origin: news://eljaco.se (2:203/2) |
