> I can not understand why democrats think the way they do, to me it's not > really thinking at all, but it is also UN-American. Republicans must do > everything they can to make Democrats less and less significant. On the topic of the apparent double standard of law-breaking, etc., the way it was told to me once was like this: Republicans usually campaign on being law-abiding and cleaning things up so, when they do something bad, they are being a hypocrit (sp?) which, in turn, gives the other side a ton of ammo. That is how the double standard comes about. The standard is not applied to the Democrats because they do not campaign the same way. > 1. Their policies of Free Stuff; Things are never really free. Someone is paying for them. Some folks who qualify for the "free stuff" do not care who is paying for it. They assume it is a faceless corporation but, in most cases, the corporations are still getting the tax breaks they always get no matter who is in office. Chances are the folks paying the most for the free stuff are the ones who are working hard, paying their taxes, and trying not to become poor. So, by promising and giving away free stuff, the Democrats are ensuring that the groups that benefit from the stuff say in need (and indebted to them), and they also bring more folks down into the cycle of requiring things from the government to survive. It is a legal way to BUY VOTES. > * Are those grounds for impeachment & and is there such a thing on the state >level. or is that just a buzzword out taken out of the Democrat playbook when >there is a Republican President in The White House. Depends on your state. You'd have to check on that. To be fair, the word "impeach" was also trotted out during the Clinton years also. > 2. NYC must be removed to some degree, I am not suggesting that they be > granted statehood, just that ideals and values are to be separated from Upstat > NY. (As they are vastly different from one another) However, it would not > bother me if they were removed from NY to be granted statehood. > It is the very reason why New York is a blue state, it's New York City. In the > Presidential election of 2016 every single county in New York was Red for > Donald Trump. NYC was blue. NY remained Blue. I think a lot of "purple" states are like that. The bigger cities tend to determine how the states votes go. Kentucky is a state that is traditionally very "local blue." Democrats historically have outnumbered Republicans 2 to 1 and, in some areas, Democrats only need win a primary race as they always run unopposed in the Fall. That said, many of them are conservative enough that the Democrats have issues carrying the state. When Clinton carried the state back in 1996, he did so only because Louisville and Lexington, the two largest cities, favored the Democrats heavily. Nearly all of the rest of the state, minus the capital, went overwhelmingly Republican. I may be remembering that wrong... it may have been 1992 against Bush, now that I think about it. Anyway, I knew Hillary was in trouble when I learned that the capital went blue for the first time in (probably) over 100 years. The state went blue enough to overcome Lexington and Louisville's votes. > 3. Cuomo's statement made on Jan 19, 2014 Gov. Cuomo: Pro-life, pro-gun > conservatives 'have no place' in New York. That is a dumb thing to say but, as you point out, when you only have to play to NYC, that probably works out. > I was born in Troy, New York of which is the forever home of Uncle Sam. > This is not ok with me, it makes my blood nearly come to a boil. > So much so, that I have looked into the qualifications for me to replace him. I was born in the state I live in. I would be pretty upset if our Governor made a statement that made me feel unwelcome (especially since the current one is not originally from here). Good luck if you decide to pursure that route. Mike --- * SLMR 2.1a * I had another drink...Drink-a-drink-a-drink-a-drink... * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (1:2320/105) |
