-=> On 02-18-19 08:57, Ward Dossche <=- -=> spoke to Dale Shipp about Re: natives <=- WD> There is no fence to scale but the open sea waters are way WD> more dangerous. Tens of thousands have perished. One thing WD> you can say about the Mediterranean ... its fish are well WD> fed. I can add another personal observation about the Mediterranean. When I lived in England in the early 1970s, we took a trip to the "Italian Riviera". When we got there, we observed that the Med waters were salty (no surprise) and muddy brown. We also observed that the water that came out of the taps in the hotel looked and tasted exactly the same. If you wanted fresh, clean water you needed to go to town center at noon with a container which you could fill from the water truck that came down from the mountains. Of course, the other alternative was to buy the Italian wines. During the same period of time, we made the mistake of booking a two week vacation in a Gibraltar condo. Our plan was to rent a car and tour southern Spain. Then we discovered that to get from Gibraltar to Spain one had to go via Morocco since the border was closed due to some spat that Spain was having with England. Fortunately, we got out of the reservation because of a medical event and trip insurance. Dale Shipp fido_261_1466 (at) verizon (dot) net (1:261/1466) ...
