Hello Sean,

at>> I would never visit a country that does not protect its borders.

WD>> The Holy See doesn't protect its borders.

 SD> From:
 SD> https://tinyurl.com/yyler25r (vaticanstate.va)

SD> "Vatican City covers a territory of 0.44 square kilometres, that is 44
SD> hectares (roughly 100 acres). It is partly surrounded by walls and
SD> stretches into St Peters Square as far as a strip of travertine stone
SD> that corresponds with the furthest end of the colonnade. This marks the
SD> boundary of the State and the edge of the Square which is normally open
SD> to everyone. Even though it is part of Vatican City, the Square is
SD> usually patrolled by members of the Italian Police Force.

SD> There are five entrances to Vatican City, each of them guarded by the
SD> Pontifical Swiss Guards and by the Gendarmes Corps of Vatican City
SD> State. The entrance to the Vatican Museums is on Viale Vaticano, not far
 SD> from Piazza del Risorgimento."

A state within a city within a state.

SD> So yes, the Holy See -does- protect its borders.

Adolf Hitler was Catholic.
Adolf Hitler invaded Vatican City.
Adolf Hitler allowed the pope to live.
Adolf Hitler was never excommunicated.

The Holy See does protect its own.

SD> The rest of your list of countries all have militaries that are
SD> charge for protecting each country's borders.

The Swiss Guard is assigned to defend the pope.
Nothing else. The US has contingency plans to invade
Vatican City. But regime change would be out of the
question.

Is the pope Catholic?
