KW>WD> I would love it when people would start using "undocumented" instead KW>WD> of "illegal". The latter pushes them immediately into the criminal KW>WD> bracket while they're just looking for a better life ... KW> Undocumented border crossings are illegal, regardless of the intent. But there are different ways to deal with it. As it now stands these people are labeled as 'criminals' which 99.9999% are not. KW> Our border situation is a mess. We need more workers in California than KW> we KW> let in legally, and everyone turns a blind eye to the thousands of farm KW> workers who work for lower wages than Americans would work for, and allow KW> Big Ag to sell produce competitively. It's even worse .... your (beautiful American) National Parks can only thrive because of the piles of foreign "students" with special "educational visas" to work inside park boundaries ... most of them cleaning toilets in park hotels/motels, works as room-maids, delivery-truck drivers, selling ice-cream, doing dishes, picking up garbage, you name it ... for the simple reason that American youngsters do not want to work for those wages anymore. So the work-around is "educational visas" and fly-in Bulgarian kids, Romanian, Russian, Polish ... even with the cost of the interview to obtain the visa, the plane ticket, other related travel, room and board with a salary determined by the State Department they are still cheaper than Americans. Don't say I'm bullshiting you because "been there, done that, got the T-shirt" ... the years was 2013 and the situation is unchanged. KW> People want illegal immigration to stop, people complain about border KW> states going broke with welfare and human services expenses, but no one KW> wants to pay $10 for a head of lettuce. It's a worldwide thing. Here in Europe too. KW> I've heard horror stories about non-citizens applying for public KW> assistance, but most of the stories I've heard and seen are of people KW> trying to keep their heads down, keep off the radar and make some money KW> to send home. Watch-out with stories you hear ... if they aren't verifiable then it didn't happen. \%/@rd --- D'Bridge 3.99 SR41 * Origin: Ceci n'est pas un courriel (2:292/854) |
