That's because in the US, Ward, sneaking in over the border is breaking the
law, so yes, it is an illegal act.  I'm not one to sugarcoat things to assuage
people's political leanings.  Breaking the law is breaking the law whether
you're supposedly looking for a better life or not.

I had a friend who owns land along the Arizona/Mexico border.  He's had several
 illegals die on his land from thirst and starvation.  He finally broke down
and had to put up an electrified fence to keep border jumpers from trespassing
on his land.
