It's a good read, and five of his nine are on my list of the > > worst presidents. In order: > > 5) Lyndon Johnson > > 4) Hiram Grant > > 3) Roosevelt minor (1933-45) > > 2) Thomas Wilson (1913-21) > > 1) Abraham Lincoln (1861-65) Abraham Lincoln started a war that killed 600,000 people - yes, he started it and maneuvered South Carolina into firing the first shots. The firing of those shots was the FOURTH act of war and the first by a southern state. He destroyed the Constitution and the United States of America, replacing kt with the United State of America using raw military force and conquest. He incarcerated people who opposed his war in military prisons - without charges or trials and shut down 21 northern newspapers that had printed opinions critical of his actions. He elevated war crimes to an instrument of national policy - see William Tecumseh "War Criminal" Sherman's campaign, and the campaign of destruction in the Shenandoah Valley, and General "Beast" Butler's administration in the captured area around New Orleans. There's no reason, save angry northern politicians and industrialists, that the USA and CSA could not have peacefully co-existed. There's nothing in the Constitution that says states cannot leave the union, and nothing that says they can, the Constitution is silent on the issue. Under the 10th Amendment states do have the power to leave the union. Thomas Wilson introduced progressivism into American government. His administration gave us the income tax and the direct election of senators, and presided over massive growth of the national government. Roosevelt minor finished off whatever was left of the Constitution and continued the expansion of the national government. LBJ continued the expansion of government, and raised vote-buying to a form of art. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5 * Origin: Fido Since 1991 | QWK by Web | BBS.DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) |
