These "trade wars" have been going on for years.  What the Chinese want to do
is to become the world's leading technological power; they would like nothing
more than the US to provide pork and cheap steel to them.  It's just "tit for
tat", of course, and while I think "Buy American" is a good thing, it is the
American corporations' fault we're in the position we're in by their thinking
that if we treat the Chinese on equal footing they will start being more
democratic in their ways.

That's never, ever going to happen and now we, the American people, are paying
the price for our backwards thinking.
