8. Identification assistance and Facebook updates

Here's an item that is a round wooden ball about 8 inches, and separates into
32 pieces/wedges bound in leather.  So far no one has been able to help
determine what it is.  Can you?

sectioned off into shallow "bowls".  Can anyone confirm some of the
suggestions?
