As with collectibles, people also have very strong feelings about foods from
their past.  Sometimes these special recipes get lost.  This section is to help
 people who are looking for lost recipes from their past.  If you submit a
request, please include the geographical region where you tasted the recipe.

Here's a recipe from the 1959 Farm Journal's Country Cookbook. It's from the
section titled "From The Garden"

Creamed Kale and Onions

Good with pork chops

1 1/2 lbs. kale, cleaned
2 lbs small white onions, peeled (about 12) 1/4 c. shortening
3 tblsp. four
1 1/2 c. vegetable liquid or milk
Seasonings

Cook kale in boiling salted water enough to come half way up until tender,
about 15 minutes.
Cook onions in boiling salted water until tender, about 15 minutes.
Drain and save vegetable liquid. Combine vegetables. Make a white sauce of
shortening, flour, milk and seasongs (salt, pepper, etc).
Pour over kale and onions. Serve hot. Makes 6 servings.
