Oh you have the JM> occasional driver passing you like you're sitting still, but not as JM> often as on interstates. Which does make it more relaxing... Also, there generally are some places where one can pass a really poky driver... or one could be lucky enough for that one to turn off pretty soon... <G> > check out my route the night before, to "recite" the pertinent decision > points... JM> I've always believed the shortest distance between two points is a JM> straight lines and will see this squiggly line is shorter in distance JM> but no numbers. That's when having a more local map is useful... And where AAA can be helpful.... A state map, or better yet, a regional one, will have the numbers (and sometimes the street names) on it for even the blue highways.... and often have insets for cities and towns... JM> I am also using Google maps and Mapquest which mostly only show JM> interstates. But they are handy for more/detailed information for JM> some side trip to visit. If you are getting them from the computer, it can be useful to zoom them in and get more detail before you print them out.... They still aren't as accurate as the printed maps, though, I've found.... JM> I recall a commercial from years ago. JM> A fella is using GPS and told to turn here and there and so forth JM> which he does. Then he's told turn right and a slight pause. He turns JM> and runs into the plate glass window of a restaurant with the voice JM> saying "In 200 yards". JM> I don't recall what the ad was selling though. That sounds like some of the Geico ads.... I've heard some real life horror tales about GPS misleadings... ttyl neb ... As of next week, passwords will be entered in Morse code. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.20 --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5 * Origin: Fido Since 1991 | QWK by Web | BBS.FIDOSYSOP.ORG (1:123/140) |
