Often clerks have a little stash of pennies (and sometimes larger coins)
that can be tossed into the till to make up a little shortfall... I've
had that happen at the grocery store, where I needed a penny to make the
change come out even, that the clerk would offer a penny or two...

Yup, then you probably have at most only one more disability review to
deal with...

The only case where that's remotely the case, would be the grand jury
duty where the term is for months on end, I think 6 months at a time...
one can be excused from that when one is a sole proprietor with no
employees to carry on the business in one's absence... Most employers
pay their employees their regular pay when on jury duty, especially the
salaried ones... And often one only actually has to serve for a day or
two...
