I was a poor, struggling college student and my '65 Falcon state inspection sticker had run out and needed some minor repairs and waiting for my tax refund. When the money came I was on the way to the garage where I had made an appointment, etc. I was about a block from home when I was pulled over. The cop asked if I knew my muffler was bad. Yes sir. Do you that left left tyre is bald? Yes sir. Do you know that inspection sticker is expired? Yes sir. Well, he asked, what are you going to do about it? I said, Officer, you may not believe this, but I am actually on the way to the garage and mentioned the name and address. He said he was going to let me go this time but if he caught me on the street again with the car in that condition I was in trouble. I went on to the garage and a few minutes later the car was up on the rack, the mechanic taking care of the muffler and the cop drove by. I waved at him and he back and he kept on going.
