-=> Quoting Joe Mackey to Nancy Backus on 03-26-19 05:36 <=- JM>> Often times I'll snack between when I get up and have supper. Once in JM>> a while I'll have a large lunch and skip supper, NB>> We've gotten that way, too.... Some of our meds need to be taken with NB>> food, but one can have just a snack with them and things are fine... JM> Thankfully I'm on no meds. The closest to that was some vile JM> tasting cough syrup, and not so bad drops, with a recent cold. We don't bother much with OTC meds, except for when that's how to get certain meds that are prescribed.... But my reflux and Richard's heart condition do require some medication... JM> When I busted my shoulder a few years ago I was given some Rx pain JM> killer, Lo something or other. I was told to take one every so many JM> hours and I did at first then cut it half and finally stopped and JM> still had a lot of them left over. I was to take them for like 10 days JM> but did for only like five days, if that long. Lodine, perhaps....? It's a fairly high-powered non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)... it didn't work for me for pain control... I've never taken pain meds for as often or as long as they permit.... Unlike antibiotics, you don't have to take the whole run to get the benefit, though.... and that's true for both the NSAIDs and the opioid pain drugs... JM> I find I graze more often. Instead of breakfast/lunch its bite of JM> this, a bite of that. Then supper around 4.30 and that's that till JM> the next morning. I graze mostly, too... Sometimes we have our big meal in the middle of the day, and graze a little more later in the evening... But when it's at night, it can be anywhere from 4:30-5ish to 7 or 8.... depending on how the day unfolds and how long the supper prep takes (and when I actually start, finally).... JM> I eat very little candy. I like those fun size candy bars since JM> any craving is taken care. If I buy a full sized bar often that will JM> last a couple of days. (One time while working I brought a full size JM> candy bar one summer day. I had a couple of small bites I tore off, JM> wrapped it back up and put in the cubby hole of the golf cart. One JM> nice spring day I was giving the cart a much needed cleaning and found JM> that forgotten left over Snickers bar. I put it back when the cart was JM> cleaned. Then a few weeks later had another bite. That candy bar JM> lasted a year or more. It had melted, frozen, thawed, froze, melted JM> again several times that year.) That has got to be a record performance... JM> When my sweet tooth acts up I'll often have a teaspoon of plain JM> sugar instead. I'd not do that.... JM> I'm not a big candy eater, but I love sweet rolls, cakes, pies, etc. I like those, but can keep them in moderation... A taste every so often will suffice... I don't gorge on candy, either, though I do have that more regularly... I also will substitute chocolate covered fruits and nuts for candy... ttyl neb ... Man does not live by vegetables alone! Have a cookie. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.20 --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5 * Origin: Fido Since 1991 | QWK by Web | BBS.FIDOSYSOP.ORG (1:123/140) |
