  My dentist specialises in dentures (but does all the other work as
well).  When I got mine I planned on working that day and told to take it
off.
  Afterward I was numb from the neck up (no cracks!) and sitting at home
playing on the computer I glanced down and noticed I had been bleeding
and my tee shirt was soaked in blood.  My first thought was I was glad I
hadn't gone to work that day.
  I don't recall having any meds.
  The dentures were done later that day and picked them up (one day
service) and have never had any problems with them.  Had to get a new
upper once when the gums had shrunk and a bit wobbly and bit into
something.  Later the new one had to be relined.  But there was nothing
wrong with the dentures themselves.
