When I saw the word 'detector' I thought of the RX portion of the XCVR.
Where I wrote AM or FM I was thinking about the TX section.

Balanced Modulator or something like that.

Before the Kenwood TR-9130 went belly up, I used it on FM, SSB and CW.
Can't remember if it had AM for a Mode or not.

My other 2 M rig is a Regency HR-2.
Once in a while I will turn it on but haven't heard anyone talking, so it
probably needs some work on it.

All of my Radio Gear is in the basement, if ever I hear someone on the
Regency I will bring it up to this room so I can hear what is going on.

I havr XTALs for .46 and .52 Simplex in it.

Some years ago I heard some Repeaters in My area couldn't be accessed without
sending a Tone to use them, so I may not be able to access a Repeater anymore
if all of them got that modification.

I've read that that 'feature' is used where two Repeaters are near each
other to only accept the Tone that sites RX has installed in it, to cut
down Interference.

I got the Regency in the mid-1970's and remember one Club Repeater was
using a Frequency in the 147 MC range but the repeater was set up like
Repeaters using the 146 MC section of the Band - RX Low, TX Hi.

I was listening to it one afternoon and heard Hams in another City 50 Miles
away talking.
A local Ham started talking to the caller and learned that the other Repeater
was using the "Band Plan" for 147 MC of RX Hi, TX Low.

The Club here put new XTALS in their Repeater so the two Repeaters didn't
interfere with each other.

When the Kenwood 2 M XCVR worked I remember one Frequency was called a
"Wide Area" Repeater Frequency and I heard Stations in Ohio on that Freq.

If You have Your magazines stacked in order grab the December and January
issues for several years back and see if a Indes is provided.

Popular Electronics (or was it called Electronics World) had a Index,
the other magazine Radio-Electronics printed an note that they would send
a Index if You asked for it each year. (there might had been a small cost?)

I remember hearing the CW ID, I'm thinking I've heard one of them have
a Voice ID, not sure.

I wasn't writing about a Repeater ID, it was the Signature at the end
of the messages a SysOp wrote in a BBS echo.
