I am Licensed as W9ODR .

The other day I was thinking about the letters in my Call Sign and if
I reversed the ODR part the letters would make a abbreviation for Radio -

RDO .

I've been doing things backwards all of my life and the F.C.C. knew it
when they issued this Call Sign to me.

My Primary Call Sign was K4ZIQ before I moved to Indiana from Kentucky
in the 1960's.

I didn't want to lose that Call so I applied for a Supplemental Call Sign
and was issued WA9WSB .

Years later I turned in my Four Land Primary Call Sign of K4ZIQ when no one
in my family lived at my original QTH any more.

So WA9WSB became my Primary Call Sign.

Later, some one told me that if I held a 1X3 Call in the past, the F.C.C.
could issue a 1X3 Call to me if I turned in my 2X3 Call and I wouldn't be
charged for a Vanity Call Sign.

I sent the application to the F.C.C. and got my Primary Call Sign changed
to W9ODR .

BTW the ZIQ in my old Four Land Call meant "Zero Intelligence Quotient".

... If life is a bowl of cherries, what am I doing in the pits? E.Bombeck
